Fireworks over the ocean

In Western Australia, a licensed fireworks contractor applies for the event permit. Coastal, beach, waterway or barge displays also involve agencies responsible for those locations. Property permission and an ordinary wedding booking are not enough on their own.

Current guidance requires completed permit applications at least 14 days before the display. That is a minimum submission deadline, not a promise that a coastal wedding display can be organised in two weeks. A contractor must assess the full approval sequence.

Drone light shows

CASA approval is required for one-to-many drone operations. Additional flight approvals may apply, and assessments can take months. Site geometry, people, wind, airspace and the operator’s permissions all matter.

CASA recommends obtaining approvals before advertising a display. Treat a wedding drone show as a feasibility project until the required approvals and operating arrangements are in place.

Agree on weather limits, cancellation terms, exclusion areas, guest viewing, noise, wildlife considerations and the responsibility for approvals. Have an alternative evening plan that still feels complete.
